Spiritual Reading for Litha 2026
Welcome to the Summer Solstice
This Litha comes at a rare time. Litha, also known as Midsummer, is a pagan holiday celebrated during the summer solstice, marking the longest day and shortest night of the year. It is a time to honor the sun’s power, celebrate nature’s abundance, and often involves bonfires and outdoor festivities. Litha has deep historical roots, with various cultures celebrating the summer solstice in unique ways. Ancient Celts, for example, celebrated with bonfires and dancing, believing that fire brought good luck. The Vikings also held feasts and rituals, viewing this time as an opportunity to connect with nature and spirits. Litha is a vibrant celebration that invites participants to connect with nature, honour the sun, and embrace the warmth and abundance of summer. This year it coincides on the same day as the Sun enters a new sign, Cancer.
There is a lot going on in the skies so let’s get down and take a look.
First and foremost the Summer Solstice in 2026 comes during the Fire Horse Year. So it is a Fire in Fire year. Where we may have felt a false start to what we may have hoped would be for the Fire Horse, Litha lights the touch paper. The Horse has been biting at the bit to let loose and now it finally can. And there will be no stopping it, and neither do we want it to. It has been too long for things to take off this year and now we can begin to see how all our prior planning is coming home to roost. It has been draining to be honest as we have plodded hoping for the inspiration of the Fire Horse to take things off, now the roof will be lifted. Expect fireworks, not only those we might on the Solstice, but those that are figurative, spiritual and metaphysical. Collectively we have been waiting patiently for the light to shine and now it comes full beam. There is no dimming our light now, the Fire energy is turned all the way up and we have put on a hat and sunglasses. This is a glow up like no other Solstice!
This then takes us to Leo. Things have started here already when Venus moved into Leo last week. It stays here until 9th July. Then Jupiter enters Leo at the end of June where these two planets converge for two weeks. Let’s just take a look at Venus first before what Jupiter means. For this is a seminal moment.
Venus in Leo brings bold and passionate energy to love and relationships. This period encourages grand gestures and emotional breakthroughs. This transit is characterized by heightened passion and bold expressions of love. During this time, relationships may experience significant emotional breakthroughs and a desire for authenticity.
Venus in Leo promotes a playful and extravagant approach to love. It encourages individuals to embrace their desires and seek out experiences that bring joy and fulfilment. This period is ideal for making bold moves in relationships and pursuing creative endeavours.
Now we come onto Jupiter in Leo. Jupiter enters Leo 30th June 2026, and will remain there until 26th July 2027. This transit is significant for personal growth, creativity, and confidence, marking a time for bold self-expression and new opportunities. This transit is significant as it emphasises themes of creativity, self-expression, and confidence. During this transit Jupiter goes retrograde in Leo from 13th December 2026 until 13th April 2027.
Jupiter was named after the Roman god known as the king of the gods and the god of the sky and thunder. He is often equated with the Greek god Zeus and was worshipped primarily at the Temple of Jupiter Optimus Maximus on the Capitoline Hill in Rome. Astronomers believe this might be the oldest planet in the solar system. Apart from the Sun, it is also the largest body in our Solar System. In astrology, this planet is associated with expansion, growth, optimism, and luck. Being a giant it is slow moving. So though there is expansion it is not light, there is heaviness and a sense of things being done with a weightiness. The weight of the King’s shoulders upon our own. Things can seem huge even if they are insignificant. So we need to apply some care for each other for Jupiter is in Leo which makes things grandiose effortlessly anyway!
Jupiter is a slow moving Goliath and stays in each zodiac sign for a little over a year, therefore taking about 12 years to move through the entire zodiac. Wherever Jupiter transits, that zodiac sign experiences an expansion and power surge of great proportions. Jupiter has been in Cancer since 9th June 2025. This is considered the best placement, because it is exalted there. Empathy, nurturing, homes, nesting, family, and security were the focal points during that transit. Now things will be turned all the way up exponentially.
Once Jupiter enters the Lion, themes of creativity, fame, courage, leadership, and generosity all take centre stage. Expect massive growth in these areas especially if we embody the naturally big-hearted and warm nature of this most royal of signs.
Instead of idly sitting by, this is the moment when we are being nudged to step outside and be seen. That can mean taking command at work or home, sharing our gifts with the world. Of course, it’s also a nudge to get outdoors and soak up the light!
And this energy is dialled up further with the Fire Hose Year. If ever there was a moment of great oomph in our skies and spectacular explosion now is it. There is no sitting in the shade now, it is time to enter the spotlight and take up our central role with full confidence. All lights are on us so let’s be bold, for we have rehearsed our turn and now it is time to hit the stage with all we’ve got. We also have Venus with us here adding an extra flair at the beginning to help kick things off with an added flair and Joie de Vivre.
The retrograde period is a good time to take stock of all that has happened during the transit and reflect on how all the blazing lights have shone across the areas of leadership, creativity and fame. This is a necessary step to prepare for the last bout of Jupiter in Leo before it moves into Virgo.
Now, let’s Tarot!

Buzz words - manifestation, creation, and new beginnings; emotional fulfilment, harmony, and happiness
First of all I turned over the X Cups and smiled. What a generous, beautiful sign, I thought. And then quickly The Magician flipped out wanting to be seen. What a powerhouse!

I The Magician
The universe is aligning to bring positive changes our way. This Major Arcana Key shows us that we must use our intellect, concentration and willpower to make things happen. The Magician also points to spiritual pursuits and gifts taking a more central place in our life. Latent powers will more easily come to the fore and things begin to change around us without trying, this luck is boosted by Jupiter in Leo too. Therefore putting some time in to focus attention on what it is we really want to manifest can literally move mountains. We have all the tools at our disposal, and have trained for this period of our life so it is now high time to put it all into practice.

Spiritual Yoga for Litha 2026
There is so much Fire energy right now that we need to counter this with some Earth and Space energy so that we don’t get too consumed by the raw passionate exuberance it ignites.
However, we can also equally apply some Buddhist philosophy of “removing a thorn with a thorn” and use Fire energy in our practice (Mudrās, Āsana, intention and purpose) as well. So Sun Salutations, or Surya Namaskara, can be fantastic to immerse ourselves fully with the energy of Fire and the power of Leo at this time where both Venus and Jupiter are here. It may seem counterintuitive as we are in Cancer Season yet we have such brilliance with the Fire energy that not to work with it now would be detrimental to the spiritual energy around us now.
But, that may equally be too strong so utilising more Earth and Space energy can be of huge benefit as this can bring some relief to such heightened energy.
Air and Water signs will greatly benefit from Space (Ether) element, while Earth signs will enjoy both the Fire energy as well as using Earth element too. Fire signs can benefit from some Earth element to bring done grounding to the intensity of their Fire energy. Some respite is essential so that what we are manifesting can find its way through rather than leading to burnout.
Balance is key. Hence we have both Golden Citrine offering the Fire energy and Blue Dumortierite providing Space. This equal and opposite dual provision of energy enables us to find the balance we need holistically.
